A 4-Step Lingerie Care Guide

At Aberdevine, all garments have been crafted with longevity in mind. To ensure your lingerie remains at its finest, we strongly recommend washing it by hand, especially our signature plant-dyed range (cream, honey, etc.). This will also minimise fibre shedding.

Please use gentle, environmentally-friendly detergent and try to wash each garment separately. Don't worry if the water changes colour while soaking; this is normal, especially with plant-based dyes, and will not affect the appearance of your lingerie.

4 Steps to follow:

  1. Fill a bowl or sink with cold or lukewarm water. Add a small amount of detergent (preferably one made for delicate fabrics).
  2. Soak the garments and gently hand-wash, rubbing away any marks or stains with care.
  3. Rinse each item under the tap in cold or lukewarm water until the detergent is thoroughly rinsed away, then gently squeeze out any excess water.
  4. Lay each garment flat, and pat out any excess water with a towel. Allow each piece to dry flat, lying on a towel or drying rack, away from direct sunlight and direct contact with heat sources.

Really don't like handwashing?

You can try a gentle cold cycle with similar colours (or in the case of cream, with cream or separately. Please avoid washing with whites, as white clothing has been bleached and contains chemicals that might impact the look of natural dyes). When washing lingerie, it’s always best to put it in a protective bag. Guppyfriend - a bag that claims to limit microplastic shedding might be an idea, too!
